Created by Daniel Marhely in August 2007, Deezer now boasts 20 million users, 6 million unique visitors per month, more than 1.4 million premium subscribers, almost 400,000 Facebook fans and 160,000 Twitter followers in France alone.
Having secured deals with all four major labels and more than 1,000 independent labels, Deezer also partnered with Orange France to offer its premium service, which has resulted in over 1 million paying subscribers and helped establish it as the market leader in France.
With 13 million licensed tracks available on any device and in enhanced sound quality, Deezer allows its subscribers to listen to and share their favourite music, create playlists and discover the music they love thanks to recommendations by its music-loving editorial team.
It is now available in English, is being developed in other languages and last year won the prestigious ‘best music mobile service’ at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
In September 2011 Deezer launched in the UK and plans to become the only truly worldwide music streaming service with launches planned throughout the rest of Europe, South America, Western Africa, Northern Africa, Canada, South-East Asia and Australia.
